SIMPLE SECRETS TO HEALTHIER LIVING
Our story starts with a man named Yiannis Karimalis. Diagnosed with abdominal cancer at the age of 39,he was given a year to live. He decided to move from his home in America, leave his job as a painter, and move back to his native land, where he could be buried with his family. 39 years later, Yiannis has an incredible story to tell.
The story continues on a sleepy Greek island called Ikaria. Only 99 square miles, and covered with mountains, one out of every 3 residents live past 90 years of age. The amazing thing is, there is virtually no Alzheimers, or Dementia present in any of Ikaria’s over 90 population.
Over the years Ikaria became a health destination, primarily for its radio active hot springs, which were known to help with pain, joint problems, and skin ailments. Maybe it is the lack of harbors, but Ikaria remains, stuck in its own little time warp, a sleepy little island with virtually no outside influences.
The natives are relentlessly optimistic, love to party, go to bed well after midnight, take daily naps, and sleep late. It is also believed that most Ikarians over 90 are sexually active. What are the real reasons for this incredible success story ? I have listed some of the possibilities below.
